Fundly Case Study
Helping Households Budget Together and Save for Shared Goals
📱 Project Overview
Project Type: Personal UX Project
Role: UX Designer & Researcher
Tools Used: Figma, Notion, Google Forms, Adobe XD
Duration: Ongoing
Platform: Mobile App + Responsive Website
🧩 Problem Statement
Managing a shared household budget is often disorganized and stressful. Families, roommates, and friend groups lack a unified tool that allows them to track expenses, budget collaboratively, and save together for shared goals—like a vacation, big purchase, or emergency fund. Most existing tools are individual-focused or overly complex.
🎯 Goal
Design an intuitive app and responsive website that helps people:
Track household expenses transparently
Budget by category (groceries, rent, utilities, etc.)
Set shared savings goals
See contributions from each member
🧠 Research & Insights
Conducted informal interviews with roommates, couples, and families
Sent out surveys to understand group budgeting behaviors
Common pain points included:
Confusion over who paid for what
Lack of visibility into group savings
Too many disconnected tools (e.g., spreadsheets, Venmo, whiteboards)
👤 Target Users
Roommates splitting bills and rent
Couples or families saving for a shared goal
Friend groups planning vacations or events
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Make it stand out.

💡 Reflection & Next Steps
Designing Fundly helped me learn how to simplify complex problems through clean, human-centered design. I focused on creating a product that feels collaborative, not transactional.
Next, I plan to:
Conduct usability testing with real users
Build out the full responsive web version
Add features like bill reminders and split suggestions
